Description
Kohl Rabi is a wonderful, unusual vegetable. Its flavor is a cross between a cabbage and a turnip with a earthy, somewhat sweet flavor. The tops can be cooked like turnip greens. Prepare leaves as you would any green. Peel the bulb and slice for sauteing, or cube for soups.
Ingredients
- 4 small kohlrabi, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
- 1⁄2 c shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 c whipping cream
- 1⁄2 c thinlysliced kohlrabi leaves(set aside)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1⁄4 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp seasoned fine dry bread crumbs
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Layer half of the kohlrabi slices on the bottom of a buttered shallow 1 quart casserole dish. Layer with half of the onion, 3 tbsp. of cheese, half of the whipping cream, half of the kohlrabi leaves, half of the salt and half of the pepper. Repeat layers. Top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.
