KohlRabi Au Gratin
Summary
Description
Kohl Rabi is a wonderful, unusual vegetable. Its flavor is a cross between a cabbage and a turnip with a earthy, somewhat sweet flavor. The tops can be cooked like turnip greens. Prepare leaves as you would any green. Peel the bulb and slice for sauteing, or cube for soups.
Ingredients
| 4 | small kohlrabi, thinly sliced | |
| 2 | tbsp | finely chopped onion |
| 1⁄2 | c | shredded parmesan cheese |
| 1 | c | whipping cream |
| 1⁄2 | c | thinlysliced kohlrabi leaves(set aside) |
| 1 | tsp | salt |
| 1⁄4 | tsp | black pepper |
| 3 | tbsp | seasoned fine dry bread crumbs |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Layer half of the kohlrabi slices on the bottom of a buttered shallow 1 quart casserole dish. Layer with half of the onion, 3 tbsp. of cheese, half of the whipping cream, half of the kohlrabi leaves, half of the salt and half of the pepper. Repeat layers. Top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.
